Residents have until Thursday to join over 750 people in having their say on Altrincham’s future

Businesses and residents have until Thursday to join over 750 people who have filled in a questionnaire on how they think Altrincham should develop over the next 15 years.

Businesses and residents have until Thursday to join over 750 people who have filled in a questionnaire on how they think Altrincham should develop over the next 15 years.

Organisers for the My Altrincham plan, who have maintained a highly visible presence in the town centre in recent weeks, praised the “tremendous response” they had received so far – but are hoping for one last push before the deadline.

Anyone who still hasn’t filled in the questionnaire can do so at myaltrincham.org.

The questionnaire represents the first phase of consultation to help create the Business Neighbourhood Plan for Altrincham Town Centre 2015 – 2030.

The plan will define the various uses to which land can be allocated and will influence the policies that will determine the size and design of future buildings and spaces. It will also guide where private and public sector investment takes place.

After the different stages of the consultation process, residents and businesses will be given the opportunity to vote for or against the plan. If they vote for it, Trafford Council must adopt the plan and use it as the basis for all their town centre planning decisions from 2015 up until 2030.

Once the questionnaire phase is completed, members of the Altrincham Business Neighbourhood Forum – the body responsible for the plan – will draw together all the information provided and begin to draft proposals, which will be available for public consultation in early 2015.

Forum chair Tony Collier said: “Thank you to everyone who has participated so far. We are delighted with the response and we hope that over the coming days even more people will take the opportunity to fill in the questionnaire online at myaltrincham.org and tell us how they would like to see Altrincham Town Centre develop between 2015 and 2030.

“This process has reinforced the fact there is a huge amount of passion and interest from residents and businesses and everyone is keen to improve Altrincham Town Centre.

“It is now the job of the Forum Members to gather all the information we have and begin to put some initial proposals together. We will then be seeking opinions on those proposals in early 2015 and we hope everyone will be as keen to participate.”
