Kids Allowed given green light to build £2.6m nursery in Altrincham

Nursery chain Kids Allowed has finally secured planning permission to build a £2.6m nursery in Altrincham.

Nursery chain Kids Allowed has finally secured planning permission to build a £2.6m nursery in Altrincham.

The chain, which already has five nurseries in Cheadle Royal, Didsbury, Stockport, Macclesfield and Knutsford, had announced its intentions to build on the vacant site on Manchester Road almost two years ago.

But after a series of planning delays that chief executive Jennie Johnson said were “very surprising”, Trafford Council has finally given the project the green light.

Johnson told Altrincham Today that the company was “delighted” and that the positive conclusion meant “everyone’s hard work has paid off”.

The new purpose-built nursery, close to the Co-operative Funeralcare branch, will create 65 jobs and have places for 160 children.

It will have age specific rooms, its own gardens, a multi-sensory room, fingerprint security technology and an on-site chef cooking nutritionally balanced meals.

Work is expected to start on the site in late 2015, with the nursery due to open in September 2016.

Kids Allowed was founded by Johnson in 2003 after she became dissatisfied with the standard of nursery care on offer in the region.
