Factory Transmedia, the animation studio behind children’s TV hits such as Strange Hill High and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, is to expand its Altrincham base after a period of “remarkable” growth.

The studio says it has grown its staff “significantly” over the past 18 months and will move into a bespoke new office space with 70 new fully-equipped workstations. It will be staying on the Altrincham Business Park.

It’s also undergone a complete rebrand – with help from Manchester design agency Instruct Studio – and will be changing its name simply to Factory. The new brand, including a new logo and website, is intended to “grow with” Factory as it moves into new business areas “both at home and internationally”.

Managing director Phil Chalk said: ‘This is an extremely exciting time for everyone at Factory, we are incredibly proud of our quality output and growth and have huge plans for the future.

“Working with Instruct we have developed a brand that defines the company we are now and looks to the future.”

The company has in recent years become a major player in the animation industry, working with the likes of CBBC, CBeebies and Disney.

Its innovative series for CBBC, Strange Hill High, this year won an RTS North West award and was nominated for an International Emmy Kids and a Children’s Bafta.

Factory is currently in production with stop motion animation Scream Street, a co-production with CBBC and Coolabi, and We Wish You a Merry Walrus for Disney, which is a mix of stop motion and CGI animation.

Other series it has worked on include Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Roary the Racing Car and the BBC’s revival of The Clangers, which is set to air next year with Michael Palin as narrator.
