A video showing the moment a boy became wedged between level crossing barriers at Navigation Road station in Altrincham has been released by British Transport Police.

The boy, who appears to be in school uniform, became stuck after running across the train track as the barriers were coming down.

The incident, which happened on December 15th, was caught on camera by a motorist waiting at the barriers and British Transport Police are now attempting to identify the boy.

PCSO Lee Howard said his actions had put his own life and others at risk.

He said: “Thankfully, the boy was uninjured, but I cannot overstate how dangerous his actions were.

“Level crossing barriers are there to protect those on the train and road users and pedestrians.

“By vaulting the barrier when the red lights were flashing, the boy put his life and that of others at risk.

“I would like to talk to the boy in this video about his behaviour.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.
