Police are searching for a man in connection with an act of “mindless brutality” in Altrincham town centre that left a 24-year-old man with a fractured eye socket.

Police are searching for a man in connection with an act of “mindless brutality” in Altrincham town centre that left a 24-year-old man with a fractured eye socket.

A man was waiting for a taxi outside the Canada Grill takeaway on Railway Street at about 3.10am on Saturday 7th March when several men approached him.

They knocked him to the floor and repeatedly punched and kicked him in the head, before running away towards the train station.

As a result of the attack the victim received a fractured eye socket.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault:

Detective Constable Sonia Johnston, of South Manchester division, said: “This unprovoked act of mindless brutality left a man with a fractured eye socket, not to mention the emotional trauma he suffered.

“I would urge people to look at this image carefully and if you think you recognise this man, please call us.”
