Altrincham Forward has teamed up with businesses in the popular conservation area for a programme of acts including the award-winning Cheshire Chord Company choir, a children’s magician and Green Room favourites The Henry Revue and The Jailbirds.

The event will take place between 12pm and 5pm on Saturday 29th August.

Children’s activities will include a treasure hunt, face painting, a fun photo booth and goose-themed crafts organised by Open Studios Altrincham.

Street food will be also be available from Café Cleo and Francs, while Traders Tiki Bar, The Green Room, Costello’s, La Piazza and House Restaurant & Bar will all be open for alfresco food and drink on the newly repaved terraces.

Trafford’s Mayor and Mayoress will also be in attendance to formally reopen the new-look square, which has undergone a recent programme of improvements as part of a series of public realm work across Altrincham town centre.

Yorkstone paving has been laid around all building frontages, as well as segmental arched paving across the centre of the square.

Trees and lighting have now been installed and the much-loved geese statue relocated to the side of the square.

Mark Rubin, Goose Green property owner, said: “I and a number of business owners in Goose Green were keen to mark the fantastic redevelopment with a celebratory event.

“We have some great acts lined up for the day to make it a fun occasion for visitors of all ages, and we hope this can be the start of an annual Summer Festival in Goose Green.”

Trafford Councillor Michael Young added: “Goose Green is the first completed area of Phase 1 of the public realm work in Altrincham, and we have been delighted with the positive response to the improvements from both businesses and the public.

“The new pedestrian-friendly layout was designed with the aim of accommodating more community events within the square, and it is great to see Altrincham Forward and Goose Green businesses working together on this summer celebration.”
