Here’s a first look inside Idaho, the stunning new addition to Greenwood Street that opens tomorrow.

Named after the American state from where it derives the Western Cedar wood that gives the shop its unique and ultra-cool look, Idaho stocks unusual and quirky gifts, cards and homeware.

It’s a first business for Amy Bartlett (below), a qualified interior stylist originally from the Midlands who moved to the area seven years ago to be closer to her family.

As she says, it’s the coming-together of a long-term project.

“This shop is four years in the making,” the 25-year-old admits. “I’ve been to lots of trade fairs, making a long list of all the suppliers that I like, as well as via the internet, and the shop is just a big mash-up of all the lovely things that I have come across.”

The impressive shop fit-out has been a family affair – she’s been helped by her architect brother and surveyor dad.

She says she chose Altrincham because of the “lovely vibe” that now characterises Greenwood Street since the opening of Market House.

Idaho is open six days a week – 10 to 6 from Tuesday to Saturday, and 11 to 4 on Sundays. It’s closed on a Monday.
