A charity that supports the recovery of injured service personnel through golf was the recipient of a total of £3,000 raised during an event at Ringway Golf Club.
Twenty-four teams of four took part in an AmAm event at the Hale Barns club to raise funds for the On Course Foundation.
Launched in 2010, the charity aims to provide employment opportunities for injured servicemen, women and veterans within the golf industry.
It was represented at Ringway by Gez Almond, a former RAF serviceman who was injured in Bosnia, and Alex Hiles, formerly of the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment, who was injured in Iraq.
The competition was won by a team comprised of James Blower, Steve Whydle, Jack Kelsey and Tim Hirst, with a score of 85 points. There were also numerous other prizes awarded at a presentation event and dinner after the competition.
Mike Prior, Ringway GC’s Captain, said: “It was a fantastic turnout for what proved to be a highly successful event. We owe our injured servicemen such a lot and as a club we were very pleased to be able to do our bit for what is a superb charity.”
