Baby the parrot is to officially open the new building at Willows Primary School, part of an afternoon of celebrations to be held at the Timperley school.

Baby, the Green-winged Macaw who was stolen and then miraculously returned to Timperley Aquatics Centre last month, will “cut the ribbon” on Saturday October 10th.

The new building will house three extra classrooms and other facilities and will increase the capacity of the school from 210 to 315 pupils. Car parking facilities have also been extended.

The school will host an afternoon to mark the opening, starting at 2pm. There will be tours of the new building, face-painting, stalls, a bar, cakes and sweets.

Children will also have the opportunity to plant bulbs at the front of the new building, and the afternoon will finish with an auction for the old school gates and a tree planting of a new willow and a time capsule.

Headteacher Kirsten Warren said: “Everyone at the Willows Primary School is delighted with the new building and outdoor learning spaces.

“The extension has added so much to our lovely school. We are especially pleased with our new logo, which has been designed by one of the children and incorporated into wonderful new signage.

“Anticipation is rising for our celebrations on October 10th at 2.00pm when we will be officially opening the new building and unveiling the new logo. Friends and neighbours of the school are most welcome to attend.”
