Residents escaped unharmed after a fire at a retirement home in Hale Barns that started in a second-floor tumble dryer.

Residents escaped unharmed after a fire at a retirement home in Hale Barns that started in a second-floor tumble dryer.

Firefighters from Altrincham, Wilmslow and Wythenshawe stations were called to the blaze at Sunrise Senior Living on Hale Road at 6.02pm.

They used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the fire and were at the scene for just under three hours.

A spokesperson for Sunrise said that the safety of its residents and staff was its “absolute priority”, adding: “The fire brigade were called immediately and the proper policy and procedures were followed. We can confirm that all residents are safe and well.”
