Manchester United legends Bryan Robson and Denis Irwin will join with celebrities including Ralf Little and Jake Quickenden for a charity match at Altrincham FC to raise funds in memory of Isaac Maley, a 10-year-old Bowdon schoolboy who died suddenly last August.

The Bowdon C of E School pupil suffered a severe asthma attack and died on August 22nd last year.

Sunday’s match, which kicks off at 2pm, has been organised because Isaac’s mum and dad, Vicky and Andrew, wanted to give something back to Once Upon a Smile, a grief counselling charity that had helped them in the wake of his sudden passing.

And there’ll be a number of famous faces on the pitch, including former Old Trafford and England skipper Robson, Republic of Ireland international Irwin and ex Manchester City striker Paul Dickov.

There will be a good celebrity turnout, too, with actor Ralf Little, from The Royle Family, the X Factor’s Jake Quickenden and Emmerdale’s Danny Miller and Anthony Quinlan.

Over 2,100 tickets have already been sold, and tickets are easy to buy online here.

Tickets, costing £2, can also be bought on the gate.

As well as the game itself, there will be a raffle – with the first prize a three-night luxury stay in Budapest (including flights) – and a half-time crossbar challenge.

Organiser Andrew Brannan, the father of one of Isaac’s friends Louie, said it will be “an emotional day for friends and family”.

He added: “The club have been really amazing in helping everything to come together. It really shows just what a community club it is. Isaac’s mum and dad, Vicky and Andrew, would like to give them a big thank you.

“We’re hoping as manay people as possible can come down on Sunday and help us raise as much as we can for Once Upon a Smile, a fantastic charity.”
