Two local cyclists will be going the extra mile in support of Altrincham’s relegation battle this week – travelling the full 225 miles to Saturday’s crucial game at Braintree on a bike.

Dan Martell and Mike Ripley are leaving from Altrincham on Friday and hope to arrive in Essex in time for the 4pm kick-off for what is the Robins’ final league game of the 2015/16 season.

Along the way they intend to pass through Stoke, Leicester, Market Harborough and Cambridge, and even hope to fit in a 5km park run.

The pair are raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and Altrincham Football Club Community Sports.

Altrincham sit 22nd in the Vanarama National League, three points from safety with one game to play.

Dan and Mike have already raised over £800, and donations can be made via their JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/Altrincham-to-Braintree
