An Altrincham car leasing and contract hire specialist is looking to spearhead an electric car rental revolution in the North West by offering the sought-after Tesla S model for both hire and lease.

The five-door cars, ranked as the world’s best-selling electric vehicle last year, are being offered by CVSL, based on Barlow Road.

Although a high performance car, the Tesla S is exempt from both road tax and the London congestion charge and has very low fuel costs and emissions.

Recent figures have revealed that the UK is the second largest European country to invest in battery electric cars, with 3,165 vehicles being officially registered during the first quarter of 2016.

And with electric car sales up by nine per cent compared to the same time last year, CVSL is anticipating unprecedented demand.

Stuart Sinclair, sales director of CVSL, said: “We’re always looking to offer our customers leading-edge models in-line with customer demands and what makes the Tesla so appealing is its high performance balanced with cost effectiveness, for both organisations and individuals.

“Although we have been supplying this make of vehicle for some time, we have found that during the last few months we have seen a significant increase in enquiries because more people are recognising the huge advantages that electric vehicles offer when compared to petrol or diesel options.”

One of CVSL’s recent Tesla S customers is Graham Forrester, managing director of Altrincham-based McGoff Group Facilities Services.

Forrester said: “What was paramount for us was the fact that we needed a good quality fleet of cars that would save considerably on our fuel expenditure, as each of our previous vehicles cost, on average, around £60 per week.

“With the Tesla S, fuel costs now are virtually zero whilst benefit in kind is £26 which makes a huge difference to the overall running cost of our fleet.

“We’re delighted with the vehicle’s specification and performance and wouldn’t ever return to a petrol or diesel option for our company vehicles.”

Sinclair said that travelling for a “fraction of the price” was one of the key drivers for customers choosing the Tesla.
