An Altrincham-based developer of specialist ‘supported living’ accommodation has appointed a new chief operating officer.
The £30m-turnover company, HB Villages (HBV), which has delivered more than 650 new apartments for disabled adults across England since starting in 2012, chose New Zealand native Laurence Basturkmen to take the role.
Basturkmen said: “HBV is a trusted developer in the supported living sector and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the team and continue to grow the business.
“I will continue to place our greatest emphasis on changing the lives of vulnerable people for the better as we look towards the next phase in the evolution of the business.”
Basturkmen qualified as a chartered accountant back in New Zealand and has previously worked for the likes of global accountancy firm EY.
HBV said they were committed to “delivering suitable accommodation for the tens of thousands of vulnerable adults living in inappropriate, badly serviced and often, poor quality accommodation”.
Jonathan Wrigley, executive chairman of HBV, said: “Laurence is the right person to drive the next phase of growth in the business and we are delighted he has accepted this senior leadership role.”
As part of the changes, former MD Wrigley becomes executive chairman and Alastair Sheehan is appointed business development director.
