Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp is to headline the Sunday evening concert at the Hale Barns Carnival next summer.

Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp is to headline the Sunday evening concert at the Hale Barns Carnival next summer.

Kemp, bass guitarist in the 80s new wave group which has sold more than 25 million records, will perform a special Back to the 80s DJ set as well as performing Spandau Ballet hits.

The quintet were famed for songs including Through the Barricades, True and Gold.

The Hale Barns Carnival returns for a third year in 2019 on July 20th and 21st with the organisers promising another spectacular event on the St Ambrose Playing Fields.

Over 10,000 attended last year’s event, which featured top tribute artists The Sound of Bowie, the Bootleg Bee Gees, the Pretend Beatles and ABBA Revival.

Max Eden, of Hale Barns Events, said: “We have been working on securing big names for next year’s Carnival and I couldn’t be happier to announce our first headline act today.”

“We are over the moon to have Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp performing in Hale Barns next year, having seen how electrifying and full of energy his solo shows are to which he has performed in front of 50,000 people at various festivals, I knew he would be the ultimate headliner for Hale Barns and so happy we’ve got him.”

Kemp has also has a successful TV career, starring in the likes of Eastenders and The Krays as well as appearing in shows including Celebrity Island and Let it Shine.

The organisers are promising another big name to headline the Saturday night. Local firm Benchmark Security Group will again be sponsoring the event.

Early bird tickets are on sale now for 2019’s event here, with no booking fees and for a limited time, you can obtain a special early bird discount of 20% if you order tickets before December 24th by entering promo code ‘EARLYBIRD’. Tickets are expected to sell out quick so don’t delay.
