Fire engines from Sale, Altrincham and Wythenshawe were called to the scene at 11.13 this morning after reports of a fire involving an oven.

They discovered a fire involving two ovens in the bakery section.

Staff and customers were evacuated while firefighters used a hose to extinguish the blaze, aided by the store’s sprinklers. A thermal imaging camera and a ladder was also used.

Firefighters are still on the scene at the time of writing but are expected to leave shortly.

The store reopened at around 2pm this afternoon.
