Altrincham is to hold its first High Street Festival on the day it is piloting a brand new national ‘Perfect Day’ initiative.

The free community event, which will take place between noon and 8pm on Friday 17th May, is open to all and will feature fashion shows, music and special guests.

The festival will open with a performance from the award-winning Altrincham Boys Grammar School Swing Band, followed by fashion shows from independent retailers and high street brands including Daniel Christian Menswear, Laundry B, Violet Loves Vintage, Pure Boutique and Marks & Spencer.

There will also be a special appearance by students from Sew Creative who will be showing off their unique handmade designs.

Local choirs will also be involved, including Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College, Wellington School, Altrincham C of E Primary, Park Road Academy Timperley, Absolute Belters, Di Voci Choir and The Music Place Choir.

The event – which is being coordinated by Altrincham Unlimited – will be hosted by a celebrity guest, to be revealed soon, and there will also some surprise street performers throughout the day.

Local choirs will be involved on the day

And various businesses will also be offering special discounts and offers on the day.

It’s all part of the National High Street Perfect Day initiative, which Altrincham has been selected to trial on account of the revival of its fortunes in recent years and the fact it was named England’s best high street last year.

Elizabeth Faulkner, the BID Manager for Altrincham Unlimited, said: “This community event gives us the opportunity to thank everyone for the incredible hard work that went into Altrincham winning the Great British High Street Award and for their support with the pilot project for the National High Street Perfect Day.

“If you’re in town shopping or for business, in your lunch hour or after work, why not come and see the fashion shows, listen to the local choirs, or make an evening of it and enjoy the town’s fabulous restaurants and bars.”
