Shang a Lang! The Bay City Rollers to headline next year’s Hale Barns Carnival

The organisers of the Hale Barns Carnival have announced that the event will return in 2020 – with 1970s hearthrobs The Bay City Rollers revealed as the first headline act.

The organisers of the Hale Barns Carnival have announced that the event will return in 2020 – with 1970s hearthrobs The Bay City Rollers revealed as the first headline act.

This year’s event – headlined by Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, Brother Beyond’s Nathan Moore, Odyssey and The Real Thing – proved to be the three-year-old carnival’s biggest event to date and raised over £100,000 for the local community.

And now it’s been confirmed that the fourth annual Hale Barns Carnival will take place across the weekend of Saturday 18th July and Sunday 19th July 2020.

Daytime entry to the St Ambrose Playing Fields will again be free – for attractions, a traditional fun fair and an artisan foodie village – from 12pm until 5pm on both days.

The evening concerts are ticketed, with gates opening at 6pm and the concerts starting at 7.30pm. 100% of the ticket revenue will go towards community projects.

This year the first name confirmed is the Bay City Rollers, who will take the Sunday evening ‘legend’ slot and perform all their greatest hits including Bye Bye Baby, Shang a Lang, Remember and Summerlove Sensation.

The Rollers’ line-up will feature Les McKeown, who was the band’s lead singer during their most successful period in the mid 1970s, when they enjoyed worldwide success and two UK number ones.

Organiser Max Eden, from Hale Barns Events, said: “This year’s Hale Barns Carnival was so incredible that we are already excited to get on with planning next year’s event.

“I can’t wait for Les and the band to take Hale Barns back to the 70s and bring the thrills and excitement of Rollermania to the village, this is our first headliner we can officially announce but we will have even more big names to announce in the coming months.”

Early bird tickets can be bought here.
