Danish retail chain Søstrene Grene has released the second phase of its Christmas and New Year’s collection 2019 as it marks a year since the opening of its Altrincham store.

The collection, which includes gift-wrapping materials, kitchen utensils, host and hostess gifts and table settings, are available in-store from today.

We popped into the Stamford Square store – close to WH Smith and Wilko – to speak to staff members Nic and Lauren about what makes this time of the year so important for the brand.

ALTRINCHAM TODAY: Christmas is fast approaching – how are you preparing in store?

NIC: I know it’s been said many times before but it really is one of the most exciting times of the year! We love building new displays in our windows to help spark inspiration – we’re currently displaying a gorgeous table setting, showcasing our new kitchen collection. Very on trend and perfect for entertaining family and friends over the holidays.

AT: What essentials would you recommend popping in-store for?

LAUREN: Now is the ideal time to stock up on wrapping paper. We have a huge variety of designs to suit every taste, and I especially like the recyclable kraft paper with printed design. It’s very stylish and has quite a nostalgic feel to it too which I love! All our gift wrap is FSC certified so you can be confident that purchasing it won’t harm our planet’s forests. This year is the first year we’ve offered four-metre-long rolls, for only 50p more than the two-metre standard rolls – hopefully taking a bit of stress away from wrapping presents this Christmas!

AT: How about gift ideas – what are your favourites at the moment?

NIC: With the colder weather setting in, I love to always have our sage dawn hand cream at the ready. It smells delightful and is kind to sensitive skin. Combined with the body wash and hand soap, I think it makes a lovely gift.

All our pampering care series are labelled with the Vegan Trademark which is your guarantee that the series does not contain animal products, nor is it tested on animals. All products are also free from any sulphates ensuring the best ingredients are used to protect all types of skin.

AT: Thinking about homemade products and crafts that children will enjoy getting involved with – what can you recommend?

LAUREN: I’m loving our baking section with everything you need to make Christmas cookies – either to hang on the tree or give as a personalised gift. I’m planning on making some myself – I’m just not sure they’ll make it to being gifted!

We also have a reindeer trail instore this year! The aim is to find all nine reindeers, positioned around the store by filling in a tick list that you hand in at the till to collect a small prize. When you’ve found all nine reindeers and posted your selfie, with the most famous reindeer of all – make sure you tag us on your post #sostrenegreneselfie!
