Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons is to close its Altrincham restaurant after just three and a half years in the town.
The Cross Street store has failed to take off since opening in December 2017, when one lucky teenager won a year’s supply of coffee by being first in the queue.
It’s now confirmed it will close its doors in early September.
All eight staff currently employed at the branch will be transferred to its Trafford Centre store.
Tim Hortons, which once claimed to sell eight out of every 10 cups of coffee sold in Canada, has eight restaurants in Greater Manchester altogether, most recently opening a large new restaurant in a prime location on Manchester’s Market Street.
It’s understood the Cross Street site has been acquired by another, as-yet undisclosed brand.
