A new Tesco Express store on the Washway Road site formerly occupied by American Golf Discount is to open by Christmas.
The new store, just across the road from a Co-operative Food outlet, will create several new jobs. Work is currently under way on the site.
Tesco has a major presence in Altrincham through its Extra store in the town centre, but the new store will be only its second Express outlet in the vicinity. The other one is on Ashley Road in Hale.
Tesco has also applied for planning permission to install an ATM machine outside the store.
Previously the site was taken by American Golf Discount before the Warrington-headquartered company closed it last year.
