Businesses in Altrincham are to be offered affordable expert advice thanks to a joint initiative from the Sale & Altrincham Chamber of Commerce, Trafford College and Altrincham Forward.

The Altrincham Business Learning Exchange (ABLE) will offer regular monthly sessions from September, to be run by successful business owners, local professionals and council experts.

The sessions, which will cover a wide range of subjects including grants and finance, basic accounting, sales and marketing and legal issues, will cost £10 each, or £50 for six.

Anyone interested in finding out more is invited to drop into the launch event tomorrow, Tuesday 23 June, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at the Altrincham Forward office on Shaw’s Road.

Sue Aldridge, CEO of Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce, said: “I felt it was important to have an independent source of support and information available to new businesses, giving advice on everything from premises and leases to banking and marketing.

“Many of the businesses will be startups and may not have access to the knowledge they need to be able to trade successfully from the beginning. I know our sessions will provide both the practical support and ongoing mentoring to help start-ups and early stage businesses avoid some of the common pitfalls.”

Joan Scott, chair of the Altrincham Forward People Group and Assistant Principal at Trafford College, added: “Trafford College is delighted to support this initiative, which we hope will be a valuable resource for anyone starting or running a business in the Altrincham area. Having access to advice from a range of experienced local professionals will really help to give new and developing businesses the best chance of success in their ventures.”
