Crews from three fire stations were called to a blaze at Oxford Road Cafe last night.

The fire, which happened at around 7.30pm, appears to have originated in a bag of laundry in the basement of the café, which is actually located on Peter Street in Altrincham.

Crews from Stretford, Sale and Altrincham attended the scene and used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the blaze. They were on the scene for around 50 minutes.

The café is however open today and a member of staff told us it was “business as usual”.
