Former Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley has admitted two counts of sexual assault at a Manchester music venue.
Langley, 34, of Altrincham, admitted assaulting two women at the Band on the Wall on Swan Street on October 1st.
The actor, who played Todd Grimshaw for 16 years, left the ITV soap after an internal inquiry last month.
The court heard Langley had grabbed the crotch of one woman and touched the breasts and bottom of the other while drunk.
Karen Saffman, prosecuting, told the court he touched two other women on the same night but was not charged with offences in relation to those women.
The actor was handed a 12-month community order which included 40 days of rehabilitation activity. He was also made the subject of a 12-week electronically monitored curfew and must sign the sex offenders’ register for five years. He was ordered to be pay his two victims £250 each.
Ms Saffman said the actor was “clearly intoxicated” when he assaulted the first woman, who was returning from the venue’s cloakroom at the time.
She said: “As she walked back towards the stairs Mr Langley grabbed her in the crotch area over her dress.”
The victim said in a statement: “He grabbed me. Properly grabbed me. It was a rough grab, really right in. Lots of pressure.”
The prosecutor added: “She was clearly in shock. She was thinking about hitting him. She said, ‘Did you do that on purpose?’ But he did not reply.”
She said Langley had not replied but a man who was with him apologised for the actor’s actions.
The court heard the woman had then gone to the toilets, where she was approached by his second victim who told her she had also been attacked.
The second woman told the first victim Langley had touched her “boobs and bum”.
She also told police: “He grabbed me in the crotch. Quite a lot of pressure. This lasted for a couple of seconds.”
After sentencing, District Judge Mark Hadfield said: “On that evening your conduct was quite disgraceful, indeed degrading. On a number of occasions you sexually assaulted females whilst being on licensed premises.”
In a statement released afterwards, Langley said: “I sincerely apologise to the people involved and affected by my disgraceful behaviour on the evening of 30th September.
“I have absolutely no memory of what happened because of excessive alcohol consumption and it was for this reason that I behaved completely out of character.
“However, I take full responsibility for my actions that night. Since this incident I have been dealing with, and confronting some personal issues that I have never addressed, and I am also getting help for an alcohol problem, so that this does not ever happen again.”
