Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.
In a video posted on Twitter, the Prime Minister confirmed he had developed mild symptoms over the past 24 hours and, on the advice of the chief medical officer, had taken a test which returned positive for Covid-19.
The 55-year-old, who described his symptoms as “a temperature and persistent cough”, said he was self-isolating and working from home.
Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.
I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

He wrote on Twitter: “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this.”
