The Cross Street bakery opened in November 2017, billing itself as the “oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world”.

Established in 1860, Warrens Bakery is well known across the South West with numerous stores in Cornwall and Devon.

Sim Trava, the Altrincham-based franchisee behind numerous Costa Coffee branches across the North, had taken on the Warrens franchise with plans to open 20 stores across Manchester in five years.

But a spokesperson for Warrens has now confirmed that “very sadly” it will not be reopening the store.

Last year, the company had blamed the uncertainty generated by Brexit for closing 22 stores in the South West.
