Police want to speak to this man in connection with “completely unnecessary assault” at Altrincham bar

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a “completely unnecessary assault” at an Altrincham bar.

Officers were called to reports of an assault at One Central, on Central Way in Altrincham town centre, at around 9.20pm on Saturday 15 May.

They established that after an altercation with a man who came to sit at his table, the victim – a 49-year-old man – was punched a number of times in the head and face.

The victim received minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Officers have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with this assault and have also found a watch at the scene which they believe could belong to the offender.

Neighbourhood Policing Officer Grace Tarver, Of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This was a completely unnecessary assault on an innocent member of the public and we will not stand for such behaviour in our communities.

“Officers have carried out a number of enquiries, and as part of these we are releasing an image of a man we would like to speak to and have also located a watch which we believe may belong to the offender.
