An 87-year-old Timperley man has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to four counts of making indecent photographs of children.

Peter Waterworth, of Redbrook Road, Timperley, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court yesterday.

He had been arrested for an unrelated matter on June 23rd 2020, after which several devices were sized from his home.

A search of his laptop and mobile phone found a number of manipulated images, of boys and girls.

Waterworth’s internet history also revealed that he had visited a number of sites relating to teenage girls and had photo editing software installed.

Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall, of Trafford CID, said: “Peter Waterworth posed a significant threat to children, actively seeking out indecent images of children and editing them.

“When he has served his prison sentence, which he rightly deserves, he will continue to be registered as a sex offender for life with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.”
