Altrincham FC are in search of their first win of 2022 as they travel to Solihull Moors in the National League this Saturday.

Last week’s 2-1 defeat to Torquay United was the Robins’ sixth loss in seven games, with Alty’s last league win coming against 10-man Weymouth back in November 2021.

Phil Parkinson’s side sit in 17th place and are ten points above the relegation zone.

Speaking to Radio Robins, Phil Parkinson said: “This is the most difficult time I have experienced in football.

He added: “Sometimes when you don’t have that momentum things don’t go for you.”

Parkinson still remains hopeful even after a difficult string of results. In his post-match interview, the Altrincham manager pointed to his side’s fluid football and creativity in the final third.

The Altrincham manager said: “Against Torquay, we weren’t clinging on, we were going for the win so that is the positive I will take.

“We didn’t give in, we showed an abundance of character, and we didn’t deserve that result.”

This weekend’s opponents have their eyes on promotion following a disappointing campaign last season.

Solihull Moors have won their last two games and remain outside of the play-off places by goal difference.

The Moors, as they are nicknamed, are currently managed by former AFC Wimbledon and Notts County manager Neil Ardley, and are one of the richest clubs in non-league.

For this weekend’s fixture Altrincham will be without defensive stalwart Tom Hannigan who is unavailable due to an injury.

All of Parkinson’s new signings, which include loanees Jordan Hulme and Kevin Berkoe, will be available for selection.

For those unable to make the trip to the East Midlands, Radio Robins will be broadcasting live from the ground and the club will be providing match updates from Twitter.
