Trafford Council was forced to abandon its waste collection service yesterday due to the soaring temperatures.
With the thermometer hitting 37 degrees, refuse collectors were stood down yesterday afternoon “on health and safety grounds”.
The suspension meant that residents on dozens of roads in the Timperley area did not have their bins emptied.
Amey, which runs the service on behalf of Trafford Council, has now issued advice for residents with unemptied bins.
Anyone with an unemptied green bin should bring their bin back in and wait for the next scheduled collection – it won’t be collected this week.
However, crews will return today to empty any blue and grey bins which have not yet been emptied. Residents should therefore leave their bin out.
