A BMW driver jumped on the bonnet of another car during an apparent road rage incident on the M56 yesterday.
The incident happened westbound between Junction 6 (the Four Seasons roundabout) and Junction 7 Bowdon.
Police say they were called at 10.36am to reports of a BMW driver getting out of his car and mounting the bonnet of a Kia Niro.
It’s understood there had been an earlier altercation on the A555.
The incident led to a significant emergency response and two of the three motorway lanes were closed while police dealt with the matter, causing major delays for motorists.
A man was treated at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 10.36am today (Tuesday 20 December) police were called following reports of an incident on the M56 westbound between junction 6 and junction 7.
“The incident involved the driver of a BMW, a man, who exited his vehicle and got onto the bonnet of the Kia Niro following an earlier altercation on the A555.
“Officers are currently at the scene and the man is being treated at the scene. Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway.”
