A new beauty salon has launched in Altrincham, taking space in one of the town’s most stunning buildings.
Cheshire Beauty Sculpt is the brainchild of Donna O’Shea, a 33-year-old entrepreneur who has branched out on her own after working at a salon in Failsworth for 15 years.
“I’d worked in the same salon since I was 17 and had run it for the past 10 years,” says Donna, “but I wanted to set up my own business.
“I didn’t want to set up a business close to where I used to work out of respect for my boss, so had been looking in the city centre for the right place.
“But the more I was coming in to Altrincham for bites to eat, I started to get a really good vibe for the town and you just need to follow your instincts. Then I spotted this building and fell in love with it. It’s beautiful.”
The building in question is on Old Market Place at the top of Kingsway, a beautiful and historic building that is familiar to anyone who takes the A56 through Altrincham.
With a mixture of private investment and support from Trafford Council, Donna has completely refurbished the interior to create a open ground-floor space with a number of private treatment rooms in the basement.
At the moment the salon offers a wide variety of luxury beauty, nails and spa treatments, including massages and facials.
And from January, it will also be offering a revolutionary body sculpting treatment called cryolipolysis.
“Cryolipolysis freezes stubborn, superficial fat cells,” explains Donna, “and within three months they melt and you’re rid of them naturally.”
One full-time staff member has followed Donna from her previous salon – as have several clients – and she’s hoping to hire more therapists soon.
Donna says the welcome she’s had from other Altrincham businesses has been “amazing”.
“I had nine therapists at my previous salon and it was one in, one out for eight hours a day, with a cancellation list as long as your arm. I put a lot into it and I know I can do it again.”
