A team of 58 from an Altrincham law firm completed the National Three Peaks Challenge and raised over £14,500 for St Ann’s Hospice and Trafford Deaf Children’s Society.
The Myerson team conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in what is described as one of the UK’s toughest challenges.
The challenge began with Scotland’s Ben Nevis (the UK’s highest peak) in the early hours of Saturday July 2nd and despite encountering snow towards the peak, the team completed Ben Nevis in just over seven hours.
The team then travelled down to their hotel in the Lake District, where they were able to get some rest ahead of their climb up Scafell Pike at 4am on Sunday morning, which they completed in around six and a half hours.
With aching muscles from the first two mountains, the team were back on the coach and on their way to Wales for the final part of the challenge. The team started their climb up Snowdon at 6.30pm on Sunday evening in conditions that were much more welcoming than Ben Nevis, with blue skies allowing for clear views across Snowdonia National Park.
The team were also treated to a rare sight – a ‘broken spectre’ as they reached the summit. With the sun going down and the challenge completed, the team made their descent back down the mountain before beginning their journey back to Altrincham.
Overall, the Myerson team walked a total distance of 25.6 miles and climbed 2,932 metres in less than 48 hours.
The raised money will be split evenly between St Ann’s Hospice and Trafford Deaf Children’s Society.
As a co-sponsor, Myerson was also able to raise funds for its challenge at the recent Boodles Tennis at The Mere event.
Donation cheques were presented to representatives from Myerson and St Ann’s Hospice by tennis legends Henri Leconte, Thomas Enqvist, Mikael Pernfors and Xavier Mallise.
