An Altrincham law firm has raised over £19,000 for Trafford charities St Ann’s Hospice and Trafford Deaf Children’s Society.
Myerson Solicitors has raised a total of £19,158 during a year of charity initiatives, including cake sales, dress down Fridays, raffles, quizzes and the Three Peaks Challenge, which was completed by a team of 58 staff.
Andrew Chapman, Partner and Head of CSR at Myerson, said: “It has been fantastic to see so many members of staff at Myerson take part and contribute to the fundraising events we have held over the last year for St Ann’s Hospice and Trafford Deaf Children’s Society.
“We are really pleased to have raised such a significant amount of money for both charities and we are sure it will be put to good use.”
Lynn Chipperfield, from the Trafford Deaf Children’s Society, said it was “hugely grateful” to the firm, which is in the process of moving to new 20,000 sq ft headquarters in Grosvenor House in Altrincham town centre.
Helen Cannell, from St Ann’s Hospice, added: “As a charity St Ann’s Hospice receives just one third of our funding from NHS, so we truly wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without the support of local companies like Myerson. It’s amazing to see how far all of the staff at Myerson pushed themselves in the Three Peaks challenge to raise such a fantastic amount for the hospice.”
Meanwhile, the firm has appointed two new partners in its commercial division.
Carla Murray joined Myerson from Hill Dickinson in 2008 and specialises in commercial law, intellectual property and IT, while Jonathan Hassall joined from Linder Myers in 2013 and specialises in complex commercial litigation disputes with a particular emphasis on intellectual property. The firm now has 19 partners in total.
Heather Adams has also moved from SAS Daniels to take up the post of senior solicitor and head of residential conveyancing in the firm’s Private division, while Emily Barcilon has qualified as a solicitor in the Family Law team and Sarah McNair and Jennifer Walsh have joined as trainee solicitors.
Finally, Myerson Private Division has been recognised by the 2016 edition of the Legal 500, widely regarded as the definitive judgement on law firm capabilities.
In this year’s edition, the firm boasts the highest Legal 500 rankings in the Altrincham area, particularly in relation to its Myerson Private division which includes Family Law, Personal Tax & Probate, Employment Law and Inheritance Disputes.
The Myerson Commercial division is ranked as “Top Tier” in the North West in relation to four practice areas: Corporate Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property and Agriculture and Estates as well as being recognised for IT and Intellectual Property Law.
Managing partner Carl Newton said: “We are delighted that the Legal 500 has recognised us in such a broad range of disciplines. We are rated as the most credible firm in the Altrincham area and are ranked higher than many Manchester competitors.
“This assessment confirms what we already knew; we employ some very talented solicitors so that we can offer expertise that is commensurate with national and regional firms. We are proud to offer that expertise, with a distinctively local service, to our clients.”
