An Altrincham mum is aiming to get couples dating again – with a company she launched while on maternity leave.
Date Delivered, set up by 31-year-old Aimee Burgess, delivers a “beautifully packaged” date-in-a-box to your doorstep.
Customers fill out a confidential questionnaire on Date Delivered’s website, which then generates a customised date night box, with themes such as wine tasting evening, a cocktail making class or a cooking session.
The startup has already partnered with the likes of Coco Delicious, Joe & Seph’s, Taste Cocktails and Drinks in Tube.
And Burgess said she was inspired to set up the company by the difficulty she had with fixing dates with her own long-term partner after the arrival of their two small children.
“I became fed up of sitting at opposite ends of the sofa and watching yet another box set,” she said. “I missed our ‘dating days’. However with a lack of childcare and a limited budget I knew we needed to think a little creatively! That’s why I created Date Delivered.”
Boxes cost £33.95 for a one-off or £99.95 for a three-month subscription.
“Relationship experts urge couples to have regular date nights, in order to increase their chances of staying together,” added Burgess.
“We make dating again really simple; we take away the need for planning, babysitters or taxis – you simply provide each other with the good company and we’ll take care of the rest!”
