New healthy eating restaurant EAT:kaizen to open in Altrincham town centre

A new healthy eating restaurant will become the latest addition to Atrincham’s burgeoning food scene when it launches tomorrow.

A new healthy eating restaurant will become the latest addition to Atrincham’s burgeoning food scene when it launches tomorrow.

EAT:kaizen – named after the Japanese philosophy for continuous improvement – is opening on the former site of Yorkshire Bank on Stamford New Road.

It’ll be open seven days a week from 8am tomorrow, and has room for 60 seats inside with permission for a further 16 outside on the pavement close to the entrance to the former Graftons shopping centre.

EAT:kaizen is the brainchild of business partners Rob Lee, Daniel Furness and Rob’s sister Emma.

It will offer many of the products currently offered online – as well as through retailers including Harvey Nichols – by Rob’s company Kaizen Living.

Rob told us what diners can expect: “We’re a healthy eating restaurant with a big grab and go and a retail section, so people will be able to drop in and pick up really healthy things. For people going to the gym we’ve got various brands of protein powders.

“We’ll be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and we have a really exciting menu – Thai green curries, ramen noodles, great steaks and even a 24 oz prime rib.”

EAT:kaizen will also offer build-your-own Protein Boxes, superfood salads, smoothies, juices, a special children’s menu, healthy breakfasts, lots of vegan and vegetarian options, and a lean full English with chicken sausages and turkey bacon.

“Altrincham is a very foodie-centric place but it’s difficult to buy something that’s really healthy for your lunch,” added Rob, ” so we’re really trying to fill a niche.

“Everything will be freshly made on site every day, and it’s a really exciting thing to be part of.”

Rob has previously said that Altrincham was the “perfect location” for the first EAT:kaizen.

“We know the area really well and it’s such a fitness orientated town with the likes of Total Fitness, Pure Gym and the leisure centre all within a five-minute walk of our site,” he said.

“Combine that with the regeneration of the town centre and all the exciting developments that are on-going and planned over the next couple of years, it really was a no-brainer that our first site should be based in Altrincham.”

If the Altrincham restaurant goes well, the trio are planning on opening EAT:kaizen sites in Manchester city centre and at MediaCityUK before rolling the brand out nationwide.
