An Altrincham mum is behind the launch of a new website promoting child-friendly holiday destinations in Belgium and Holland.
Laura Riley has teamed up with an Amsterdam-based friend to launch Little Clogs Holidays.
Laura spent over 15 years travelling around Europe while working as a contracting manager with Eurocamp, visiting campsites to check their suitability for families with small children.
Now a mum to Amelie, 3, and Jonas, 2, she realised there was a gap in the market for baby and toddler holidays in a part of Europe often overlooked as a family holiday destination.
She said: “I’ve now lived in Altrincham for five years and have thrown myself into the local baby and toddler community, spending many a morning at the Rocket and Orange and attending toddler classes at the Hub and at Tumble Tots.
“Speaking to many mums I realised that there was always quite a bit of interest when I said we were going on another holiday to Belgium! People started telling me they would never have thought about going on a toddler holiday to Belgium and it often came as a surprise when I explained about the massive sandy beaches they have there, the toddler-friendly theme parks and all the things to do for little ones!
“It’s a really good solution for local families as it’s either a very short flight to Amsterdam or Brussels or a few hours’ drive to the ferry, and then your final destination is within 1-2 hours from the ferry port/airport.”
Little Clogs Holidays gives inspiration and advice to baby and toddler families on the best days out and places to stay in Holland and Belgium.
Laura added: “The holiday park concept is not that well known in the UK but it provides an easy, accessible and affordable holiday for young families: warm toddler pools and indoor and outdoor play areas together with luxurious bungalow, lodge or villa accommodation in the middle of nature, and with the famous cities a short drive away.”
