The service manager at Altrincham Hospital is taking part in her first triathlon tomorrow – at the age of 47.
Timperley-born Marie Quinn is participating in the Salford Triathlon to raise money for the hospital through the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Charity.
She said: “Yes I think I’ve finally flipped – I’ve decided to take part in my first triathlon in Salford.

“In my youthful middle age I will be swimming 750m with the pike in Salford Quays, cycling 20 km and running/crawling 5 km before I collapse in a heap!
“So please donate as much or as little as you can to help raise funds for my Altrincham Hospital Charity, every penny counts and makes a difference.”
