An Altrincham athlete has raised enough money to compete at the European Transplant and Dialysis Sports Championships after support from a local law firm.
Sam Clarke, who was born with a genetic kidney disease and had a transplant in 2003 at the age of 11, has been training at Altrincham Athletics Club in Timperley under coach John Snape.
And now, after financial support from McHale & Co who were put in touch with Sam by local charity The Sport Community, the 23-year-old will represent Great Britain at this month’s championships in Finland.
He will compete in the discus event and is also part of the British relay team.
Sam, who works at Pure Gym in Altrincham, has been training up to five times a week despite having to take 13 medications a day.
A team of 12 solicitors from McHale & Co ran the Manchester 10k and scaled the Three Peaks Challenge to help raise funds for Sam.

“We jumped at the chance to help Sam get the funding he needed and we wish him all the best for Finland.”
