The Royal British Legion is calling on volunteers to help raise money for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
A volunteer information meeting is being held at Altrincham Town Hall on Friday October 4th at 7pm, where attendees can find out how they can support the appeal.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and 101 years since the end of the First World War.
Established in 1921, the Royal British Legion is the largest armed forces charity with 235,000 members, 110,000 volunteers and a network of partners and charities.
Over £43,000 was raised last year in Altrincham in the two week collection period in November. They are totally reliant on volunteers and cadets from the RAF, Navy and Army.
Poppy Appeal organiser Jean Brookes said: “2019 is a special year as we remember those who gave so we can enjoy our freedoms today. The amazing support from the Royal British Legion continues every day for our Armed Forces community.
“Altrincham has always gone above and beyond to support us and we would love to meet existing and new volunteers to find out more about this year’s exciting plans for the Poppy Appeal.”
