Trafford Council has revealed which six roads in Timperley will receive an upgrade as part of its annual maintenance programme.
The work - to be carried out by The One Trafford Partnership (OTP), a collaboration between Trafford Council and Amey – will take place on or shortly after Monday 30 June for a period of two weeks.
It will see six roads given a 'surface dressing' treatment, which involves adding a surface layer on top of the existing road surface to increase the lifespan of the road.
The work involves spraying hot bitumen on to the road, spreading small stones on top of the bitumen and rolling the surface to press the stones in. Over time, traffic helps to bed the stones in fully.
The surface dressing work has a positive effect on the road because it guards against potholes by stopping water getting in, improving grip for vehicles and extending the life of the road without needing a full resurfacing.
The six Timperley roads to receive treatment are:
- Burton Avenue, Timperley North
- Eaton Drive, Timperley North
- Hodgson Drive, Timperley North
- Radlet Drive, Timperley North
- Sylvan Avenue, sub-sections, Timperley North
- Tabley Grove, Timperley North
Local residents will receive a letter informing them of the work.
A further nine roads in the Trafford borough will be receiving the treatment at the same time:
- Cromer Road, Brooklands
- Clarendon Crescent, Sale Central
- Roebuck Lane, Sale Central
- Clarendon Road, from Carlyn Avenue to Northenden Road, Sale Moor
- Daisyhill Close, Sale Moor
- Evesham Grove, Sale Moor
- Hampson Street, Sale Moor
- James Street, from Alice Street to Northenden Road, Sale Moor
- Northenden Road, from Norris Road to Wythenshawe Road, Sale Moor
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said: “The One Trafford Partnership is committed to continuing to improve our highways in the interest of safety and keeping them properly maintained.
"We apologise in advance if these works cause some disruption and noise, we will do everything to minimise any inconvenience.”
