Local schoolchildren will be showing off their singing skills at a series of live performances across Altrincham in November.
The ‘Xmas Factor’ events, in partnership with local radio station Silk 106.9 and hosted by breakfast presenter Ditchy, will kick off on Saturday on Shaws Road, next to Market House.
Shoppers will be treated to two hours of music, games and giveaways plus Christmas-themed performances from local schools and a chance to win a ‘sleighful of presents’ worth over £1,000.
There’ll also be an evening show on Friday 7th November at the Cresta Court Hotel, with a third event taking place at Goose Green on Saturday 15th November, which will also include a Christmas lights switch-on across the square.
Silk 106.9’s Ditchy said: “We’ve had a great response to our ‘Xmas Factor’ competition from local schools and are really looking forward to seeing the children perform in Altrincham at our three events.”
Councillor Sean Anstee, chair of Altrincham Forward, added: “We wanted to really showcase what Altrincham has to offer both to local shoppers and those from further afield.
“There’s been a huge buzz around the new Market House since it opened, so that seemed the perfect location for our first event.
“The Cresta Court has recently had a full refurbishment and is planning a jam-packed Christmas programme, so it’s a great opportunity to give local families a taster of what they can enjoy at the hotel closer to Christmas.
“Goose Green is one of the town’s prettiest locations and home to some of Altrincham’s best bars and restaurants, so we’re delighted to have Silk 106.9 there to help them switch on their festive lights and mark the start of their Christmas celebrations.”
At each of the three shows, visitors will have the chance to enter a grand draw to win a ‘sleighful of presents’ at Altrincham’s big Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday November 22nd.
