Altrincham Town Hall is to host the UK’s first consumer wine fair dedicated to sparkling wine and Champagne.
Fizz Festival will take place over the weekend of November 14th and 15th, and organisers are hoping it will become an annual event.
Producers, importers and specialist retailers from around the world will be on hand to let visitors try, buy and learn more about this “celebration” wine.
As well as Champagne, there’ll be award-winning English sparkling wine, Prosecco, Cava and sparklers from much further afield.
There will also be appearances from some well-known wine personalities and sessions on anything from cocktail-making to the best buys for festive fizz.
Kate Goodman, ex-BBC Food and Drink programme presenter and the owner of Reserve Wines in Market House, will be among the visiting experts at the festival.
The festival is the brainchild of Janet Harrison, owner of Cracking Wine in Manchester, a self-confessed “fizz-fanatic”.

“The festival will have a modern approach to the usual wine fairs with no snobbery and a fun and informal atmosphere,” she said.
“With the massive rise in sales of sparkling wine due, in part, to the popularity of prosecco, it seemed a great time to organise a festival dedicated to fizz.”
Formed in January 2015, Cracking Wine organises informal wine tastings and events. Harrison is qualified to an advanced level by the Wines and Spirits Education Trust and has spent over 15 years visiting wine producing regions and vineyards.
Day tickets, priced £20, are on sale now and can be bought here.
