Trafford Council has to cut its budget by £33m – here’s how you can have your say

Trafford Council has to cut its budget by £33m over the next two years – and tomorrow you have a chance to have your say on how they propose to do it.

The council is holding a public meeting at Altrincham Town Hall from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday November 24th. There’s also an opportunity to feedback online via www.trafford.gov.uk/budget.

This represents the second phase of the council’s annual budget consultation – feedback from phase one has helped it to “shape specific proposals”, the council claims.

If you can’t make tomorrow’s meeting, there’s a second chance in Altrincham, again at the town hall, between 10am and 12pm on Saturday 5th December.

Council Leader Sean Anstee said the second consultation was the time when “people have a real chance to help us shape our proposals”.

He added: “By getting involved residents and businesses can be assured that their comments will be carefully considered and where possible included in our final decisions.  The Council is committed to setting a budget that will meet our aspirations for the Borough and ensure Trafford is the most economically successful, prosperous and thriving place in Greater Manchester.”

The council has already reduced its budget by £96m since 2010.
