Altrincham is to bring a month of Christmas activities to a close with a weekend of festive fun on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday December 19th, Goose Green will be the venue for an afternoon of Christmas music, with all welcome to join Davyhulme Brass Band and Di Voci Ladies Choir for carols and festive tunes.
The brass band will begin from just after 2pm, and song sheets will be available for all to join in with the choir from just after 3pm. Bars and restaurants around Goose Green will add to the Christmas cheer by serving warming festive goodies including mulled wine at the Green Room and hot drinks at Café Cleo.
And on Sunday 20th, Father Christmas will be popping over to Altrincham, this time to Silver Blades Ice Rink, where children are invited to ‘Skate with Santa’ from 10.15am to 12pm.
It will also see the final weekend of Altrincham Market’s Great British Christmas Markets for this year. Despite challenging weather at times, the markets have been a huge success, with seasonal food and drink on offer alongside unique gifts and decorations, accompanied by live music throughout the day.
Anthony Prophet, co-owner of Goose Green’s The Green Room and Traders Tiki Bar, said: “The success of our Summer Festival back in August showed what a great venue Goose Green now is for community events. We’re looking forward to an afternoon of traditional festive music for all the family, to get everyone in the mood for Christmas.”
Councillor Michael Young, Altrincham Forward Board member and Executive Member for Economic Growth and Planning, added: “There has a been a real buzz around Altrincham this Christmas, and footfall is up significantly on last year. Carols at Goose Green has become a popular fixture on the Altrincham Christmas calendar and is lovely way for families and friends to get together and enjoy some Christmas cheer in Altrincham.”
