Are you a teenager up for fun, adventure, new challenges and making new friends?

The local Air Cadet unit 145 (Altrincham & Hale) Squadron is holding an open day this Sunday, March 13th, at its headquarters on Mainwood Road in Timperley.

The event lasts between 10.30am and 1pm and is aimed at boys and girls between 12 and 17 years old, in year 8 or above.

Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Jo Ryan, told us: “The opportunities are endless in the Air Cadets – not only learning about the Royal Air Force but also to have the chance to go flying, gliding, shooting, gain BTEC qualifications, be part of the Squadron’s sports team, to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and much more.

“There will be a chance to meet existing cadets and staff on the day, to see some of the activities on offer together with presentations to learn about what we do and to ‘have a go’.

“We’d also like to meet any adults who also have an interest in aviation, music or with skills that would help benefit our young people and to be able to give them the chance for some ‘hands on’ training.”

The Altrincham & Hale Squadron is one over 1,000 in the country, with almost 41,000 members aged between 12 and 20.

The Air Training Corps (ATC) is one of country’s premier youth organisations and the world’s largest youth air training organisation.

To register your interest or for more information, the Squadron is open on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9.30pm. Call 0161 283 3085 or email oc.145@aircadets.org.
