The Altrincham French Festival has been expanded to a three-day event as it looks to build on last year’s record attendances.
The main family day will return for a fourth time to Stamford Park, where last year visitor numbers doubled to around 5,000 people.
It will take place on Sunday July 10th and attractions will include a range of French inspired food and drink stalls, a four-hour live music concert, a junior girl’s football tournament in celebration of Euro 16 in France, a cycling Sportive for families and a “La Grande Bake off” competition for budding pastry chefs. More will be announced in the run-up to the event.
The festival will this year begin however on Friday July 8th, with a French Classical Concert featuring local opera singers and musicians at Bowdon Downs Church.

And then on Saturday July 9th, there will be a Carnival Parade in Altrincham town centre, followed by a Bastille Celebration party at Bowdon Rugby Club in the evening.
Tickets for the evening event cost £30 per person, or £25 if bought before end of May, and includes a three-course French meal, live entertainment and a fireworks display.
Festival director Zainul Sachak said: “Brexit is the word on everyone’s lips this year but we hope families in Altrincham will come together once again to sample some French delights. Nearly 5,000 people came last year and had a fabulous family day.
“This year’s event will be bigger and better with a number new ideas which includes a Classical Concert, a family cycle ride and a Bake off style competition.”
The festival will once again be supporting Marie Curie (Trafford Group), for which it has raised nearly £8,000 over the last three years.
