There has been a church on the site of St Mary’s in Bowdon for over 1,000 years and Choral Evensong has been sung in the church for at least 400 of these.
And on Sunday June 12th, the choir will perform a very special evensong to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
The choir now boasts a string of accolades, with members being invited to sing at both Canterbury and Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, as well as for CBeebies Radio on BBC Music Day.
Director of music, Michael Dow, said: “We are delighted to be holding a special Choral Evensong to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
“The service will feature a number of choral favorites such as Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Parry’s I Was Glad, both composed for coronation services. St Mary’s choir members range in age from and eight to 71 and consistently sing to an outstanding standard.”
The Queen’s 90th Birthday service will be held on Sunday June 12th at 6.30pm, led by Canon John Sutton.
