Hale Barns hosted its annual Christmas market on Sunday with a day topped off by a performance from Stop the Cavalry singer Jona Lewie.
Holy Angels car park was transformed into a mini carnival with a range of gift and craft stalls, food and drink stalls, children’s rides and an outside stage featuring singers, Irish dancers and entertainers.
The outdoor events were capped off with a dazzling free firework display.
In the evening, Holy Angels church was the backdrop for a Christmas concert kicking off with Wayne Devlin, who opened with Blue Christmas before a version of Sinatra’s famous New York New York.
The Festival Orchestra Players, Di Voci Ladies Choir and teen soprano Scarlett Quigley put on star turns before local big band Kaleidoscope treated the crowd to an eclectic mix of swing and big band Christmas cheer.
The night ended with a performance from headline act Jona Lewie, whose set included his festive classic Stop the Cavalry as well as his other well-known hit Always in the Kitchen at Parties, which was performed alongside Wilmslow-based singer Lauren Lovelle.
After his performance, Lewie said: “It’s an absolutely fantastic venue and such lovely people, Max and the team have done a great job.”
All profits from the event go to funding a new community hall in Hale Barns, with more events set for the new year.
