The Hive by VH Interiors has been selected by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) judges as the winner of Altrincham’s Best Dressed Window Competition 2022.
Steven Sherratt and Gareth Wilkin, owners of the general store and beverage bar on Grosvenor Road, impressed the judges with their enthusiasm and how well they had interpreted the competition criteria and created their display.
The judges gave a special mention to Ferrious and Chloe Robinson Designs, who both achieved ‘Distinction’ for their displays.
Despite the heatwave, 11 businesses took part in the competition, which was coordinated by Altrincham BID, who manage VisitAltrincham.com.
The competition coincides with the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, which opened today and runs until Sunday 24th July.
Having visited all of the businesses taking part, RHS judges Kathryn Sherwood and Sarah Hills Ingyon said: “We have had a wonderful time in Altrincham and were very impressed with the enthusiasm of the entrants particularly considering the unprecedented weather which has made it difficult for everyone this year.
“Our congratulations go out to the very deserving winner, The Hive by VH Interiors, who embraced the theme so beautifully. Their display is dedicated to ‘Market Dave’ and uses locally soured material so originally. We would like to congratulate all of the entrants for their contribution and appreciate their endeavour.”
There are two parts to this competition and now it’s time to vote for your favourite in the ‘People’s Choice’, hosted for Altrincham BID by Altrincham Today.
Simply ‘like’ your favourite to register your vote, and the winners will be announced on Monday 25th July.
Mandy White, BID Manager for Altrincham, said: “Thank you to the businesses, who despite the heatwave, have produced some spectacular floral displays.
“We are keen to encourage visitors, who are coming via Altrincham Interchange and the free shuttle bus service to the show at Tatton Park, to spend time in Altrincham.
“As well as the floral windows, many of the businesses have offers and specials for RHS ticket holders and some of the offers are open to everyone.
“The town looks amazing and we would encourage visitors and the local community to come into town but also to vote for the favourite window in the People’s Choice part of the competition.”
